Michael Wynhausen has lived almost his entire life in the Northwest. 

After graduating from Jesuit High School in Portland, Oregon in 1988, he spent a year and a half at the University of Oregon before transferring to Santa Clara University in 1990. In 1993 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and later that same year entered the University of Oregon, School of Law.  While in law school, Michael Wynhausen worked from 1995 to 1996 as an acting Deputy District Attorney in the Lane County District Attorney’s Office. He graduated with his Doctor of Jurisprudence and a certification in the practice of criminal law in 1996 and was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in September of that same year. His first job after graduation led him to La Grande, Oregon as a Deputy District Attorney in Union County.  Approximately a year later in 1997, Michael Wynhausen came to work for Jason Carlile as a Deputy District Attorney. During this time, he began working with the Oregon District Attorney’s Association Legislative Committee and has continued to work with them every legislative session since. In 1999, Michael Wynhausen left the Linn County District Attorney’s Office to join the District Attorney’s office in Benton County. During his tenure there, he was invited to teach at the National District Attorney’s Association Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina.  After 6 years in Benton County, Michael Wynhausen returned to Linn County where he has been working as a Deputy District Attorney ever since.

Over his 20 years as a Deputy District Attorney in the State of Oregon, Michael Wynhausen has prosecuted thousands of cases and tried hundreds.  Cases ranging from petty theft to drug possession, DUII to vehicular homicide disorderly conduct to domestic assault, sexual assault to murder. 

In addition to his work as a prosecutor, Michael Wynhausen has served as the Vice President of Linn/Benton Bar Association, as an executive member of the board of Directors of the ABC House in Albany and as President of the Albany Kiwanis Club.
